Cinemas, Theatres &
Auditoria
Auditoria and similar spaces often require the highest levels
of sound insulation, the lowest levels of ambient noise, and
a highly developed spatial acoustics for enhanced speech audibility
or a quality music experience.
These demanding spaces are often incorporated within mixed use buildings which are a particular challenge to the acoustic consultant, where noise has to be excluded, and sound
in circulation areas controlled as at the Capitol arts
complex at Horsham, UK.
Seeking the right balance between the needs of acoustics and
those of other design team disciplines is particularly important
for these critical projects. Achieving high quality acoustics
may be costly, but necessary to the success of these developments.
Understanding the projects' minimum acoustic needs and taking
out costly features of the design that don't dramatically
affect the listening experience, is just one of our adopted
strategies.
Other projects include:
- 10 Odeon cinema sites

Granada TV film stages, Manchester
- Collins Theatre, London
- Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage, UK
