Educational

There is an increasing range of subjects taught within schools and colleges, and with the greater provision for special needs students in education, new buildings and facilities have to be more versatile.

Poor acoustics in learning and teaching spaces was addressed when schools were brought within the control of the Building Regulations. Approved Document E requires that new or extended schools have to be acoustically designed to comply with BB93 ‘Acoustic Design of Schools – Performance Standards’.

With the expansion in Higher and Further Education continuing, there is a real need to ensure the new buildings appearing on educational campuses are well designed, sustainable and help encourage students to fulfil their potential in the 21st century.
